Exeter Airport offers flights to Larnaca in southern Cyprus from May through to October flying on a Saturday.
Larnaca is the third largest city in Cyprus and being in the Mediterranean has a wonderfully warm climate the year round. The average low temperature during the coldest winter month is around 8ºC and the average warmest month during the summer is around 33ºC. The sea temperature is also very typical of the Mediterranean with lows during the winter month of 18ºC and highs in the summer of 30ºC.
Larnaca has many tourist destinations that are situated within easy reach of the town centre or vehicles can be hired relatively cheaply to get to more off the beaten track destinations.
Larnaca Castle is within walking distance of the city centre and is situated on the coastal avenue Foinikoudes. The castle dates to the 14th century which was during the reign of James 1st. The castle now houses a small museum which consists of three room above the entrance which give a quick history of Cyprus.
The Stavrovouni Monastery is set at the top of the Stavrovouni Mountain, the Monastery was founded by the mother of Constantine the great, Helena or St Helena. The Monastery has undergone much renovation over its history but is certainly worth a viewing.
Larnaca, the beaches and the harbour at studded with restaurants serving fresh caught sea food and more traditional dishes as well as local wines and spirits. There are other options for cuisine available from all around the world and they are situated in the same areas.
