If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, why not scale the heights of Arthur’s Seat which sits 251m above sea level and is part of the 640 acre Royal Holyrood Park adjacent to Holyrood Palace, the Queen’s Scottish residence.
Shopping for souvenirs and general high street brands can be enjoyed throughout Edinburgh City Centre. Elite brands are located on Multrees Walk, while Edinburgh’s newest shopping destination, St James Quarter offers an array of clothing, toy stores and eateries.
Edinburgh is also the perfect starting spot to explore the rest of Scotland or enjoy a day trip from. Nearby towns to Edinburgh that are worth a visit to include the seaside towns of South Queensferry and North Berwick.
Edinburgh has also had its fair share of notable people being born or having lived there and it is fair to say a lot of notable literary talent. These include Sir Walter Scott, Robert Louis Stevenson, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and J.K. Rowling, the creator of the Harry Potter novels.
