Check-in Advice
Check List
- Check the airport's Baggage Advice.
- Check the airport's Travel Document Advice.
- Check the airport's Disability Advice if appropriate.

- Check the AUC Before You Fly Advice.
- Be aware that the airport can Refuse Boarding to any passenger for reasons of Antisocial Behaviour.
Departure Procedures
- On arrival at the airport, outbound Passengers may wish to use Short Stay, Car Park 1, during the unloading of baggage, before re-parking in their reserved Long Stay parking space.
- Departing passengers must attend the appropriate check-in desk, before the Minimum Check-In Time stipulated by the airline or holiday company, with the appropriate Travel Documents.
- Passengers will be asked a series of Security Questions at the check-in desk.
- After Check-in, passengers may wish to use the land-side catering facilities Food Village or Cafe Select. The Concourse Shop and Bureau de Change are also available before the Land-Side/Air-Side Security Zone.
- Passengers are requested to pass through the Land-Side/Air-Side Security Search Area and be in the Departure Lounge in good time for their flight. Allow extra time for possible queues during busy processing periods.
- The Departure Lounge has the Bar Des Voyages catering facility and Airport Shopping.
- Passengers will be asked on the PA system and on the Flight Information Screens to attend the appropriate Boarding Gate area prior to boarding the aircraft.
Check-In Times
Departing passengers are requested to attend the check-in desks in the Main Terminal Building (Departures), at the time stipulated on the booking confirmation (ticket) but the following minimum check-in times should be adequate at this airport:
- 45 mins - Domestic Scheduled
- 1 hr - Other European Scheduled
- 2½ hrs - Chartered Holiday Flights
ALLOW EXTRA TIME FOR PARKING, TICKET COLLECTION AND POSSIBLE CONGESTION
Early Flight Passengers
The Terminal is CLOSED following the last aircraft movement of the day and reopened for the first flight of the day to allow for the check-in of passengers at the times stipulated by the airline or holiday company.
Check-in Questions
At check-in the following security questions will be asked:
- Could anything have been placed in your baggage without your knowledge?
- Has anyone given you anything to take on board the aircraft?
- Are you travelling with any Prohibited Items (e.g. 'Liquids', knives etc)?
- Are you travelling with more then ONE item of hand baggage?
It is a criminal offence to give false information.
Passengers will also be made aware of:
- Security Search Area Prohibited Items
- Passenger Cabin Prohibited Articles
- Aircraft Prohibited Articles & Dangerous Goods
Antisocial Behaviour
Action by Airport Staff – Refuse Boarding
Staff of Exeter International Airport will not permit any person to board an aircraft if:
- There are reasonable grounds to suspect a passenger of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- The passenger is acting recklessly, negligently or in an aggressive manner to staff.
Airport management will support the decision of airport staff to refuse embarkation, without compensation, to any passenger that may endanger an aircraft or its occupants and will refer all matters of an unruly behaviour to the Police.
Action by Police – Fixed Penalty Notice (£50 £80)
Fixed Penalty Notices may be issued by a Police officer at the airport where there are incidents of antisocial behaviour.
Fixed Penalty Notices for public disorder offences are issued under Section 1-11 of the British Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001. The offences for which notices can be issued include:
- Being drunk and disorderly in a public place.
- Threatening behaviour or language and "behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to others".
Recipients have 21 days to pay the notice of £50 or £80, depending on the offence, or request a hearing. It is a criminal offence not to pay the fine within the specified time period.
